Ametrine Crystal Healing Properties

Ametrine is thought to assist one to overcome the fear of action or progress. It clears mental fogginess and keeps the mind focused and alert. It is a ‘stone of the muses’ and can help one to connect with and manifest inspired ideas. Ametrine helps to develop a strong sense of one’s own power and potential. Also, it is thought to enhance learning and information retention. Similarly, it is believed to assist with digestive issues and stimulation of the metabolism.

History and Uses

Ametrine is a mixture of Amethyst and Citrine and is also known as Trystine or Bolivianite. The different colours are produced by the iron in the stone. This oxidises at different rates due to exposure to different temperatures as the crystal is formed. It was first seen in 17th Century Spain when it was presented to the Queen as a gift from the New World. Legend of the Bolivian Ametrine states that a mine was given to a Spanish conquistador. It was given to Felipe de Urriola y Goitia as a dowry gift from Anahi an Ayoreo Princess. When it came time for him to return to Spain Anahi planned to go with him, against the wishes of her people, who attempted to kill Don Felipe to prevent him from taking her. However, Anahi was accidently killed as she was warning him of his fate and as she lay dying she gave him an Ametrine crystal. The two colours in the stone, purple and orange, represent how she was torn between the love for her tribe and love for her husband.
