Green Aventurine History and Uses:
Also called Adventurine, Avanturine, Aventurine Quartz, and Indian Jade. It gets its name from the Italian a ventura or all’avventura, meaning “by chance,” and refers to the Italian iridescent sparkling glass from the 1700s, accidentally created by dropping metal filings into a vat of melting glass. Aventurine contains inclusions of mica or other minerals which give it a shimmering effect called aventurescence. It is most commonly green, due to inclusions of Fuchsite in the Quartz, but also forms in blue, red to reddish-brown, dusty purple, orange or peach, yellow, and silver grey. Aventurine was called the “stone of the Amazons,” because Amazonian warriors wore talismans of the Brazillian stone. Ancient Tibetans used Aventurine for the eyes of their statues to symbolically increase their visionary powers, they believed wearing Aventurine would improve eyesight and increase creativity. Historically it has always been known as a lucky stone used to attract prosperity and good fortune and to bring peace of mind and personal growth.
