Bismuth Specimen

This Bismuth specimen is a beauty, displaying all the iridescent colours of the rainbow. Bismuth exists in a natural form but this specimen has been grown in a lab. Native Bismuth is less visually attractive due to its greyish colour and it doesn’t have the intricate patterns of the man made Bismuth.

Bismuth Crystal Healing Properties:
This element stimulates energy and vitality and can help you to achieve your goals, especially when working as part of a team. It can be used to support transformation by aiding travel between the physical plane and realms of astral and spirit. It can also help with visualisation while shamanic journeying. Bismuth aids in relieving feelings of overwhelm, isolation and loneliness.

Bismuth History and Uses:

Bismuth has been known since ancient times and was often confused with tin and lead however it is an element in its own right, number 83 on the Periodic table. Naturally occuring Bismuth is an iridescent silvery white crystalline, brittle metal and is very rare. It is more usually a rainbow coloured crystal obtained as a by product of mining and refining, lead, copper, tin, silver and gold. Traditionally rainbow Bismuth has been used to ease us through transitions, encouraging a calm acceptance of change and increasing our energy levels to be able to adapt and transform.

Bismuth Geological Description:
The largest deposits of naturally occurring Bismuth are found in Bolivia.  Bismuth is a crystalline, brittle metal which resists being magnetized and is repelled by a magnetic field. It also has an unusually high electrical resistance for a metal. Its thermal conductivity is lower than any metal except mercury and it has the unusual property that, like water, it expands as it freezes. Bismuth is considered to be a stable element, although it is actually radioactive with an extremely low rate of decay with a half life more than a billion times the estimated age of the universe. Pure Bismuth is a white metal with a slight pink colour. The colours displayed come from light interference in a thin oxide layer on the surface of the crystal.

Jewellery Care & 1 Year Warranty

In jewellery form, some crystals are more hardy than others. For everyday wearers, we recommend crystals that fall in the Quartz family or have a Moh's hardness level of over 5.5-6. Avoid excessive water exposure, especially in pools or the ocean and any harsh chemicals. Delicate crystals like Amber, Moonstone, Opal, and iron-based meteorites need gentle handling due to potential discolouration or structural risks. Store safely, and clean with care. Rest assured that our 1-year jewellery warranty covers any manufacturing defects. With proper care, we expect your pieces to last many years to come. In our 18 years of business, we still wear some treasures from our original collection! Learn more about our warranty and care guide here.
