Stilbite Heulandite Specimen

This exquisite Stilbite Heulandite Specimen showcases a stunning combination of pink Stilbite and white Heulandite. The blush-coloured Stilbite, is known for its calming energy, while the fibrous Heulandite adds a unique textural contrast. With its natural beauty and intricate formation, this piece is a true collector’s item.

Stilbite, a member of the zeolite family, is treasured for its delicate, fan-like crystal formations and soft pink hue. Heulandite, another zeolite, complements it with its fibrous and more opaque structure. Together, they create a visually striking specimen.

Heulandite is named after mineral collector John Henry Heuland, and both minerals are often found in volcanic rock cavities. This combination piece is believed to encourage inner peace and emotional balance, making it a cherished addition to any collection.

History and Uses

The name Stilbite is derived from the Greek word “stilbein” meaning to shine, because of the pearly lustre of this crystal. In Germany, it is referred to as Desmine (“a bundle”). It was the original name given to this stone in 1818, when it was discovered it was a different mineral from Heulandite. It is usually colourless or white, but can also be yellow, brown, pink, salmon, orange, red, green, blue or black.

Geological Description

Stilbite is a zeolite mineral, a sodium calcium hydrous aluminium silicate with a hardness of 3.5 – 4. It forms in cavities in lava and is often found with Heulandite and Apophyllite. It is found in Poona, India, Iceland, the Faeroe Islands and Scotland.

Heulandite Crystal Healing Properties

Heulandite is believed to help calm the mind, facilitate meditative states and help us open up to Divine guidance. It may activate a connection between the head and the heart, helping us to feel uplifted and centred whilst easing the feelings of emotional burdens. Also, it is thought to assist in accessing ancient civilisations and the Akashic records. Lastly, it is believed to be a high vibration stone, which stimulates the brain and enhances mental clarity.

History and Uses

Heulandite is often mistaken for Stilbite. In 1818, August Breithaupt discovered the distinction and named it “euzeolite” (meaning beautiful zeolite). In 1822, H. J. Brooke arrived at the same result, and gave the stone the name heulandite, after the mineral collector, Henry Heuland.

In addition, it has a beautiful pearly lustre and ranges in colour from colourless, white, pink, grey, red, yellow or green.

Traditionally, it was long used to help make contact with spirit guides and develop psychic abilities. The Green variety was thought to help us to connect with the heart of Gaia, Mother Earth.

Jewellery Care & 1 Year Warranty

In jewellery form, some crystals are more hardy than others. For everyday wearers, we recommend crystals that fall in the Quartz family or have a Moh's hardness level of over 5.5-6. Avoid excessive water exposure, especially in pools or the ocean and any harsh chemicals. Delicate crystals like Amber, Moonstone, Opal, and iron-based meteorites need gentle handling due to potential discolouration or structural risks. Store safely, and clean with care. Rest assured that our 1-year jewellery warranty covers any manufacturing defects. With proper care, we expect your pieces to last many years to come. In our 18 years of business, we still wear some treasures from our original collection! Learn more about our warranty and care guide here.
