Charoite is thought to lead you to your path of service to the world. It is believed to help you overcome any resistance to that sacred path and the changes it may require. It may help one separate one's own issues from the issues of others and assists with energetic boundaries. Also, it is thought to assist with personal healing and inner work. It may help one recognise where issues still lie and the most direct route to healing them. When used in crystal healing work, it may allow one to maintain objectivity and be a more effective healer. It allows us to connect with higher frequency energy and guidance while remaining grounded and able to manifest in the physical world.
This rare stone was found in the 1940's and derives its name from the Russian word chary meaning magic or charms. It is only found in the region of the Chara (or Charo) river in the Murun mountains in Yakutia, eastern Siberia. It wasn't made available to the wider world until 1978. It ranges in colour from pale lilac to deep purple. It can have inclusions of calcite and often displays a feather like chatoyancy within the stone. Traditionally, Charoite has been used to bring comfort to those who feel isolated or live alone and to give courage to persevere during adversity.
Charoite is a complex mineral containing potassium, sodium, calcium, barium, strontium, oxygen, silicon and hydrogen. It forms in dense, fibrous aggregates and has a hardness of 6. Charoite comes from Siberia and is named after the Charo River in that area.
