Sulphur Crystal Healing Properties

Sulphur is thought to be an energising crystal which may help to remove negative thoughts, emotions and barriers to progress. It may enhance creativity and inspire imagination. Also, it is thought to help those who are prone to angry outbursts release their energy in appropriate ways. It is believed that it allows us to be able to access our inner self and find our higher purpose whilst encouraging a flexible attitude.

History and Uses

Sulphur, also spelled as Sulfur, is a chemical element derived from volcanic action, which carries a negative charge. Its symbol is S and atomic number is 16 on the Periodic Table. It has been known since ancient times and was used in Indian alchemical practices. It was called shiliuhuang and used in Chinese medicine since the 6th century BC, then later as a component of gunpowder. In Greece and Egypt it was burnt as a fumigant and mixed into skin balms and antiparasitics. The Bible refers to burning Sulphur as brimstone, meaning burnstone, and associates it with Hell, perhaps a reference to its volcanic origins. Traditionally, it has been used to detoxify the body, drawing out infections and relieving skin conditions, swelling and inflammation. Elemental sulfur is non-toxic, however, do not heat it or put it in water, as the by-products, sulphur dioxide and sulphuric acid can be harmful. Wash hands thoroughly after use and keep it away from pets and children.

Geological Description

Sulphur crystals are usually orthorhombic, yellow blocky dipyramids formed by volcanic action as a sublimate from volcanic gasses. It can also be found in salt domes, where it has formed by the bacterial decomposition of calcium sulphate. Sulphur is found many places in the world, mainly Japan, Chile, USA and South Africa.

Affirmation

I release all negativity and trust my inner self to lead me to my higher purpose.

Jewellery Warranty & Care

When crafted into jewellery, some crystals are more hardy than others.

For everyday wearers, we recommend crystals that fall in the Quartz family or have a Moh's hardness level of over 5.5-6.

Avoid excessive water exposure, especially in pools or the ocean and any harsh chemicals.

Delicate crystals like Amber, Moonstone, Opal, and iron-based meteorites need gentle handling due to potential discolouration or structural risks. These are best as occasion pieces.

Store safely, and clean with care.

Rest assured that our 1-year jewellery warranty covers any manufacturing defects.

With proper care, we expect your pieces to last many years to come.

In our 18 years of business, we still wear some treasures from our original collection! Learn more about our warranty and care guide here.
