Peitersite is also called Tempest Stone because its energy feels like a thunderstorm. Pietersite is a relatively rare gemstone that was discovered by Sid Pieters in 1962 in Namibia, Africa, hence its name. It is also found in other countries such as China and the United States, but Namibian Pietersite is highly regarded for its quality. The stone is composed mainly of hawk's eye and tiger's eye, which are varieties of quartz, and it exhibits a remarkable swirling pattern of colours due to the presence of different minerals and fibres.
Pietersite is a member of the quartz family a silicon dioxide mineral with a hardness of 7. It is composed of Tiger Eye, Hawks Eye and Jasper and displays beautiful chatoyancy in contrasting colours of blue, gold, red, grey and black. Pietersite is found in South Africa and China.
