Crystal Healing Properties

Mookaite is thought to connect us to ancient knowledge and genetic memory. It may be a powerful reminder of the ageless spirit, and can help one to maintain a “young at heart” attitude and a vibrant physical vessel. Mookaite may help us to perceive and understand the emotional and behavioural legacy our ancestry has passed down and it supports one to release and move beyond those patterns. It helps one feel a deep connection to place.

History and Uses

Mookaite is from the Jasper family and is found only in Western Australia. It gets its name from the Mooka Creek where it is found, Mooka being the local aboriginal word for running waters.

With its great array of earthy red, ochre, purple, burgundy and yellow colours, Mookaite is a perfect picture of the Australian Outback. It was formed approximately 125 million years ago from the fossilisation of microscopic sea creatures called radiolaria.

Geological Description

Mookaite is a form of Jasper, a silicon dioxide mineral composed of sub-microscopic Quartz grains, with a hardness of 6.5 to 7. In Jasper, the Quartz microcrystals are laid out in sugar-like grains rather than fibrous layers as found in Chalcedony. Jasper deposits are found in India, Russia, Brazil, France, Germany, Australia, and the USA. Mookaite Jasper was discovered on the Mooka Station in remote Western Australia.

Jewellery Care & 1 Year Warranty

In jewellery form, some crystals are more hardy than others. For everyday wearers, we recommend crystals that fall in the Quartz family or have a Moh's hardness level of over 5.5-6. Avoid excessive water exposure, especially in pools or the ocean and any harsh chemicals. Delicate crystals like Amber, Moonstone, Opal, and iron-based meteorites need gentle handling due to potential discolouration or structural risks. Store safely, and clean with care. Rest assured that our 1-year jewellery warranty covers any manufacturing defects. With proper care, we expect your pieces to last many years to come. In our 18 years of business, we still wear some treasures from our original collection! Learn more about our warranty and care guide here.
