These crystals come in a range of colours from peach, and pink to purple depending on their manganese content. They were first found in California and Madagascar in 1902. Morgan in acknowledgement of his contributions to the American Museum of Natural History in New York, USA. Morganite is a variety of Beryl, a beryllium aluminium silicate mineral with a hardness of 7.5 to 8. Its pink colour comes from manganese. Morganite is found in Brazil, Madagascar, Africa and the USA.
