Larimar Crystal Healing Properties

Larimar assists us to communicate our emotions and boundaries to others. It helps to give us the strength and emotional stability to speak from the heart. It teaches us to love, nurture and respect ourselves.

Also, this stone is believed to be a powerful emotional cleanser and healer. Similarly, it is said to be a good supportive crystal for phobias, panic attacks, fear and stress-related imbalances.

Lastly, it allows both men and women to connect with their feminine, intuitive, and receptive aspects.

History and Uses

This rare specimen was first discovered in 1916 in Barahona in the Dominican Republic. However, it wasn’t mined until 1974 when the source of this remarkable blue stone was found in the Bahoruco Range. The man who discovered it named it after a combination of his daughter’s name; Larissa and Mar. Mar means sea in Spanish and he found the first specimen washed up on the beach. This crystal is a rare and unique pectolite. Its blue colour and resemblance to the sea comes from cobalt or copper substituting for calcium. Above all, this calming crystal carries a strong believed energetic connection to dolphins and the sea. Consequently, Larimar reminds us to embrace change and go with the flow.

Geological Description

Larimar is a sodium calcium silicate mineral with a hardness of 4.5 to 5. So, it forms in cavities within basaltic lava and comes only from the island of Hispaniola, in the Caribbean Sea.

Jewellery Care & 1 Year Warranty

In jewellery form, some crystals are more hardy than others. For everyday wearers, we recommend crystals that fall in the Quartz family or have a Moh's hardness level of over 5.5-6. Avoid excessive water exposure, especially in pools or the ocean and any harsh chemicals. Delicate crystals like Amber, Moonstone, Opal, and iron-based meteorites need gentle handling due to potential discolouration or structural risks. Store safely, and clean with care. Rest assured that our 1-year jewellery warranty covers any manufacturing defects. With proper care, we expect your pieces to last many years to come. In our 18 years of business, we still wear some treasures from our original collection! Learn more about our warranty and care guide here.
