Green Aventurine meanings is that of spring bursting forth after a long, dark winter. It assists us in finding hope, joy and optimism in daily life. Aventurine helps us to release attachments to past events and to embrace change, growth, vitality and renewal.
History and Uses
Also called Adventurine, Avanturine, Aventurine Quartz, and Indian Jade. It gets its name from the Italian a ventura or all avventura, meaning by chance. It refers to the Italian iridescent sparkling glass from the 1700s, accidentally created by dropping metal filings into a vat of melting glass. Aventurine contains inclusions of mica or other minerals, which give it a shimmering effect called aventurescence.
It is most commonly green, due to inclusions of Fuchsite in the Quartz. However, it also forms in blue, red to reddish-brown, dusty purple, orange or peach, yellow, and silver grey. Aventurine was called the stone of the Amazons, because Amazonian warriors wore talismans of the Brazillian stone. Ancient Tibetans used Aventurine for the eyes of their statues to symbolically increase their visionary powers. They believed wearing Aventurine would improve eyesight and increase creativity. Historically, it has always been known as a lucky stone used to attract prosperity and good fortune. Also, it is believed to bring peace of mind and personal growth.
Geological Description
Aventurine is a member of the quartz family, a silicon dioxide mineral with a hardness of 7. Its green colour comes from the inclusion of Fuchsite particles in the quartz. Major deposits of Aventurine are found in Brazil, India and Russia.
