Aragonite is believed to have a soothing and uplifting energy. It is felt to be a great facilitator if the gentle opening and cleansing of the chakras and activation of the auric field. History and Uses

Aragonite, also called tufa and tchazar crystal is named after the Aragon River in Spain where it was first discovered in 1788. It occurs in a variety of colours including white, grey, reddish, yellow, and blue.

Interestingly, it forms the skeletons of some marine creatures both living and fossilised. Secreted by molluscs, it forms the lustrous mother of pearl in shells and nacre in pearls.

For metaphysical uses, the reddish star clusters from Morocco or the blue specimens from China are most popularly used.

This crystal was traditionally used to bring a stabilising effect to adolescents, helping them to be more patient, responsible and channel their energy productively. It was a favourite of Spanish monks who carved it to make their rosary beads.
