Cobaltian Calcite Crystal Healing Properties

Cobaltian Calcite is a crystal of joy. It is excellent for use with the heart chakra and may aid in releasing buried emotions. It is thought to be uplifting and may encourage us to think positively and let go of negative feelings that we may have been holding onto.

This variety of Calcite is thought to give us an enhanced awareness of our own body language and may bring increased harmony to people or groups working with each other. Also, this stone’s energy is thought to help form friendships and may facilitate raising consciousness.

History and Uses

Calcite gets its name from the Greek word chalix meaning lime. It comes in a wide variety of colours including, red, green, orange, yellow, blue, pink, clear, black and white. It is one of the most common minerals on Earth, making up the basis of limestone and marble. It takes many different forms and is formed in many different geological environments.

Some forms fluoresce blue or red under UV light. It has been used to make cement and mortar and very clear translucent calcite has been used to make gun sights and geological (polarising) microscopes.

Geological Description

Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral with a hardness of 3. It comes in a wide variety of forms and colours and is found on every continent of the world. Calcite makes up the major part of marble and limestone.

Cobaltian Calcite occurs in crystalline form, and gets its deep pink colouring from the inclusion of Cobalt. Cobaltian Calcite is found in Morocco, Africa, Germany, Italy, England, USA and Australia.

Jewellery Care & 1 Year Warranty

In jewellery form, some crystals are more hardy than others. For everyday wearers, we recommend crystals that fall in the Quartz family or have a Moh's hardness level of over 5.5-6. Avoid excessive water exposure, especially in pools or the ocean and any harsh chemicals. Delicate crystals like Amber, Moonstone, Opal, and iron-based meteorites need gentle handling due to potential discolouration or structural risks. Store safely, and clean with care. Rest assured that our 1-year jewellery warranty covers any manufacturing defects. With proper care, we expect your pieces to last many years to come. In our 18 years of business, we still wear some treasures from our original collection! Learn more about our warranty and care guide here.
