Geological Description

Thulite, a pink variety of Zoisite is a relatively rare mineral that is mostly found in Norway, with a significant occurrence in Trondheim. It is mined by hand in a picturesque plateau surrounded by swampy bogs only accessible by foot. These colours, ranging from delicate pastel pink to strong wine red, are attributed to manganese inclusions.

Typically opaque to translucent with a vitreous lustre, Thulite has a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7, suitable for jewellery.
