This exquisite crystal encourages a greater openness to receive and bestows love, compassion, and kindness. Additionally, it imparts physical stability and fortitude to the heart.

History and Uses

Also known as Pink Quartz or Hyaline Quartz from the Greek word hyalos, meaning glass. Revered as a heart stone by many cultures, including the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Tibetans and Chinese. As such, it has been used since 600 BC as a love token due to its aphrodisiac properties and its ability to promote unconditional love. Also, in Ancient Egypt and Rome, it was used as a face mask to beautify the complexion and remove wrinkles.

Geological Description

Rose Quartz is a type of quartz crystal with a distinctive pink to rose-red colour. It belongs to the mineral family of silicon dioxide and has a chemical formula SiO2. The pink hue of Rose Quartz is typically attributed to trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese present within the crystal structure.

Geologically, Rose Quartz forms in igneous and metamorphic environments. It commonly occurs in granite, pegmatites, and metamorphic rocks such as gneiss and schist. Rose Quartz is often found in association with other minerals such as feldspar, mica, and quartz varieties like smoky quartz and milky quartz.

The formation process of Rose Quartz involves the crystallization of molten rock material known as magma, which then cools and solidifies deep within the Earth’s crust. Over time, geological forces such as heat and pressure contribute to the transformation of the initial quartz crystal into Rose Quartz, giving it its characteristic pink colour.

Due to its attractive colour and metaphysical properties, Rose Quartz has been highly valued and utilized as a gemstone and ornamental material for centuries. It is widely sourced from various regions around the world, including Brazil, Madagascar, South Africa, India, and the United States.

Jewellery Care & 1 Year Warranty

In jewellery form, some crystals are more hardy than others. For everyday wearers, we recommend crystals that fall in the Quartz family or have a Moh's hardness level of over 5.5-6. Avoid excessive water exposure, especially in pools or the ocean and any harsh chemicals. Delicate crystals like Amber, Moonstone, Opal, and iron-based meteorites need gentle handling due to potential discolouration or structural risks. Store safely, and clean with care. Rest assured that our 1-year jewellery warranty covers any manufacturing defects. With proper care, we expect your pieces to last many years to come.
