Azurite Crystal Healing Properties

Azurite, also known as K2 Jasper, opens and clears the third eye and crown chakras. As such, it stimulates psychic and intuitive ability, aligning inner vision to higher guidance. It is a great aid in non-judgmental discernment, because it allows one to understand the true motives in others as well as oneself. This crystal assists with learning, memorising, writing and other tasks that focus on orderly presentation or integration of information. It is an excellent stone for testing or negotiation situations. Azurite helps to identify and overcome the fears that may be perpetuating untruthful or deceptive behavioural patterns. It is said to be helpful in all issues of the brain and head, including migraines and vertigo.

History and Uses

Azurite has been revered by many ancient cultures including the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Chinese, Mayans and Native Americans who have all used this stone to connect with the Spirit realm. Its name is derived from an old Persian word “lazhward” meaning blue colour. For thousands of years it has been ground to a powder and used as a vivid blue paint or dye and was prominently used in medieval European paintings in the 12th century.

Geological Description

Azurite is a copper carbonate mineral with a hardness of 3.5 to 4. It frequently appears in combination with Malachite, another copper carbonate. Azurite is found in Australia, China, Chile, Russia and the USA.
